Big congratulations to Guillaume Tournaire, who published his work on the role of mitochondrial metabolism for skeletal progenitor properties in Cell Reports. In this study, he could show that inhibition of complex III of the electron transport chain preserves the self-renewing potential of skeletal progenitors during in vitro culture, while maintaining their proliferation via adaptations in NADH/NAD+ metabolism. If you want to read more on the metabolic plasticity of these progenitor cells, take a look here (https://www.cell.com/cell-reports/fulltext/S2211-1247(22)00907-X).
